Author Brand Platform, S.O.A.R. $97 & $997

(Strengths, Opportunities, Actions, Recommendations)
Why do I need an Author Brand Platform? If you are using your book to build your business, it is imperative to establish a strong author brand foundation which starts with an in-depth discussion about your WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY, and HOW.

  • $97 — Sponsor a group of 10-12 colleagues and walk through the 5-week program together!
  • $997 — Arrange for one-on-one training over a 5-week timeline


Best-Practice, Online Preferred-Vendor Account Set-Up, $1900

This one-time fee sets you up as an independent Author-As-Publisher, allowing you to keep 100% of your royalties, copyright, and profits. Subsequent books will only incur a minimal Title Set-up Fee (currently $500). Preferred-vendor online account set-up includes:

  • ISBN account set-up and ISBN assignment (see below for a list of additional direct-billed vendor fees of @ $400 +/-)*
  • Amazon/KDP account set-up (see below for additional pay-to-vendor fees); includes Author Page set-up as needed
  • IngramSpark account set-up (see below for additional pay-to-vendor fees)
  • Distribution access to 40,000+ retail connections, including Amazon and brick-and-mortar access
  • LCCN/Library of Congress account set-up (free version); filing of the completed book
  • BISAC code search
  • US Copyright Office account set-up; filing of the completed book (see below for additional pay-to-vendor fees)
  • Independent Publishing Business mentoring
  • Publishing “arm” name search and URL procurement guidance (if needed)
  • Training on how to access your dashboard on vendor websites, check sales, and order books at cost.
  • Unlimited text and emails

Individual Book Title Set-up Fee, $600

This minimal Title Set-up Fee (currently $600) is for authors who already have their Preferred Vendors accounts set-up, and includes Title Assignment/Set-up for the following accounts:

  • Bowker / ISBNs
  • Amazon/KDP
  • IngramSpark
  • Library of Congress / LCCN (includes the BISAC code search)
  • US Copyright Office account set-up; filing of the completed book (there is currently an additional $75 fee paid by the author directly to the LOC office for their online copyright)


*ADDITIONAL Expenses to INCLUDE in Your Budget when Becoming an Author-As-Publisher, $400 +/- (All external fees paid directly to each vendor on behalf of the author)

  • Any business filing fees or DBA filing fees through your State of Residence (if needed)
  • ISBNs (10 for $295) - you’ll need one for each version of your book: one for paperback, one for ebook, one for hardback, one for audio
  • Amazon/KDP account set-up fees and file upload fees are no charge
  • IngramSpark account set-up fees and file upload fees = $50 (free coupon available via DC)
  • Library-approved Copyright page
    • “Generic” LCCN is free; there are no guarantees when your book will be listed as available in libraries; it can sometimes take up to 18 months.
    • The “Expedited” LCCN version starts at $95 for your paperback or hardback, and is paid to our vetted vendor (plus e-book, $161); they get your book listed into the US Library system within two-three weeks and you have a greater chance that your book will be picked up by libraries. You will still need to contact each individual library in your community with a flyer/bookmark/promo card to let them know your book is available within their system. We will also have additional conversations about ways to get noticed by libraries. Fees paid directly to the vetted vendor.
  • Sample book for review is “at cost” (ranges between $2 and $5+, depending upon the size of the book, and BW vs color)
  • US Online Copyright Fee: $75 
  • Print management included: pre- and post-design/layout, currently 4-8 week turnaround, based upon paperback vs. hardback cover options, and black-and-white vs. color interiors
  • Additional expenses may include marketing support, media relations, social media, website development, video services, etc., and will vary, depending upon services requested.

 

Content Development

Ghostwriters, editors, and proofreaders to help you complete your manuscript . . . (Cost is estimated/determined after submission of the existing manuscript.)
Our veteran marketing, messaging, and branding professionals have all worked in the publishing/communications industry for over 30 years. We only hire professionals and we only hire the best. One of our vetted team of professionals stands ready to help you bring your book to life with . . .

Ghostwriting services. The ghostwriters we introduce you to will range in price from $5,000 to $50,000 per book, depending upon subject, timeframe, length of the manuscript, and ability to have direct access to author.

Developmental Editing and Writing Coach services (our most-requested program add-on). Each project is custom and unique — we do not try to fit you into a one-method-fits-all program. Pricing ranges from $50 - $100/hour.

  • Includes one-on-one hand-holding and mentoring throughout the entire writing process
  • Depending upon your comfort zone, they start with either your draft manuscript, an outline, or sometimes simply your IDEA, to help you build your book
  • As-needed nudging to help you meet your own pre-determined writing and completion goals
  • Pricing is determined by each Coach and the status of your current manuscript

Editorial Proofreaders read your book, pre-layout, and look for grammar, punctuation, syntax, etc. They also offer additional guidance on sentence structure, content, and flow — bringing clarity to the manuscript and offering an “easier read” for your audience. Pricing ranges from $50 - $100/hour.

Proofreaders strictly only read your book according to the Chicago Manual of Style, with the goal of consistency. Pricing ranges from $35 - $50/hour.

 

Book Design and File Uploads,$1900 & $2900

Custom Professional Book Covers and Interiors (Paperback and Hardback)

  • $1900 for an up-to 40,000 word manuscript (or text-only manuscripts / e.g.: novels)
  • $2900 for manuscripts over 50,000 words and/or with over 12 graphic inserts

Payment Options

  1. A one-time payment entitles you to a 5% credit when paid in full up-front.
  2. Two auto-payments via credit/debit card (no disconts/no handling fees).
    • the first, with contract
    • the second, 30 days after the first payment
  3. Installments, up to a total of 4 payments (incurs a 5% handling fee).

Any additional pre-approved expenses incurred on behalf of the author will be invoiced on a monthly basis or at the end of the project.
